Randolph Connect Effect: Brandon N. Robinson '98

Posted by PeggyLee Wright - 05 June, 2018

brandonrobinsonheadshotThe Randolph Connect Effect is what happens when people share their passion and expertise through the Randolph Connect platform.

The Connect Effect expands and strengthens a network of resources, building connections between individuals, businesses, and civic organizations. This has a profound effect on the student experience and creates opportunities for students to connect their learning to their interests.

Brandon N. Robinson ‘98 is a partner at the law firm of Balch & Bingham LLP, where he specializes in energy regulatory law, cybersecurity and data privacy, and emerging technologies. This gives him the opportunity to work with a variety of different industries on exciting issues. From protecting against (and sometimes responding to) data breaches, to wrestling with data privacy issues, to helping protect the electric grid, to working on projects involving drones, electric vehicles, fiber optic communications, and other technologies, every day and every project is slightly different.

Before law school, Brandon taught at Randolph as a 7th grade English teacher, an assistant soccer coach for the JV and varsity boys’ teams, and even wrote a musical for the 5th graders!

Brandon is our incoming Alumni Association President, representing the alumni on the Board of Trustees, in the 2018-19 school year!

Brandon is actively involved in the Birmingham community, having co-founded the Lakeshore Foundation’s Junior Board, serving on the Birmingham Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Leadership Class and Advisory Council, participating in the Committee for the Future at Children’s Hospital of Alabama, serving as a member of the Monday Morning Quarterback Club, and most recently serving as Chair of the Roundtable Executive Committee for the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama (PARCA). He is also a member of the Energy and American Bar Associations, the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), FBI Infragard, TechBirmingham, and Cyber Huntsville. Brandon serves as a member and former board member of the Duke Law Alumni Association.

For several years, Brandon has been certified as a LEED Green Associate as well as a CIPP/US privacy professional through the IAPP. When not working at the office or in the communities of Birmingham and Huntsville, Brandon spends time with his wife Brandi, his stepdaughter Charley (a junior at Mississippi State), and his daughter Adeline (age three).
