It's almost time to reunite with the Raider alumni family! Each year, the Alumni Office and the Randolph Alumni Association host a celebratory weekend highlighting the milestone years since graduation, while encouraging attendance of alumni from all graduating classes, faculty, family, and friends.
Next weekend, on October 18 & 19, 2013, Randolph will host Alumni & Reunion Weekend with special recognition of the Classes of 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, and 2008.
Young, recent, and grand alums will come together for several on and off campus activities throughout the weekend to remember, relive, and reconnect, and it all begins with a Friday night under the lights.
Friday: Football, food, flashbacks & fun times downtown
Before the big game against Butler High School, current students, families, and alumni are invited to a tailgate-style BBQ dinner during the Raider Rally in the Commons Lawn from 5:30-7:00 PM. With the band, cheerleaders, fans, and food, what could be better?
Then, the Raiders take the field! Alumni will enjoy a first-class view of the football action from the VIP tent where hot chocolate and other treats will be served. Fans will want to listen closely as the band will be featuring popular song selections from each milestone reunion year and other tunes that will be sure to energize our special alumni guests in the crowd.
Friday night fun doesn't end there, thanks to the Class of 1983!
Thanks to the generous volunteer efforts of Virginia DiRienzo '83 and John Bayer '83, who worked with Alumni Office to coordinate their reunion efforts, and a summer-long contest that encouraged milestone reunion classes to register early, a $500 award was gifted to their class for having the highest percentage of early reunion registrations by October 4.
The class has decided to "share the wealth" and encourage all alumni and friends to join them downtown for this celebration!
All are invited to Below the Radar downtown Huntsville on Friday night immediately following the football game and join the class of 1983.
Saturday: Tours, trips down memory lane & #randolph4life
Saturday afternoon will begin with tours of the Drake and Garth campuses from 5:30-7:00 PM. A cocktail reception will immediately follow in the Thurber Arts Center Lobby featuring delicious heavy hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and the opportunity for alumni to share stories of old and new.
There will be slideshows, yearbooks, memorabilia, photo opportunities and much more. Not to worry sports fans! There will also be live SEC football playing on the big screens in the auditorium for those who want to catch the day's games.
Pictures and videos from the night will be shared using the hashtag #randolph4life, so alumni both near and far can enjoy and take part in the reunion action!
We'll also be using #randolph4life to involve alumni in the school's new viewbook project. Just as the current students have been collecting and sharing “Randolph stories” through class projects and photo contests using #rstories13 across social media, we will ask our alumni to share some of their stories during the reception to add their "ingredients" to this year's admissions viewbook project.
We know that every Randolph Raider has a story. Even those who aren't able to make it to reunion can start reconnecting and telling their stories. How did the experiences, teachers, friends and freedom you had, the risks you took, at Randolph make you the person you are today?
