A letter to the community by Jay Rainey, Brian Pollock, and Marshall Schreeder '96:
We are pleased to share that on the evening of March 14, the boards of Randolph and Greengate schools voted in support of a merger of our two institutions, effective for the 2018-2019 school year.
Since 2002, Greengate has educated children with dyslexia and related language-learning differences and has become an invaluable resource for students in our region. Greengate is one of only 14 schools in the country accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.
Greengate will become a division of Randolph and will be located in existing facilities on the Drake Avenue campus. The Greengate School at Randolph will serve children in grades 1-8 and will provide dyslexic students a specialized program of instruction that meets their individual learning needs while also offering them a full complement of co-curricular and extra-curricular school experiences. As our administrators and trustees have studied similar programs for students with dyslexia operating within traditional independent schools across the country, we have become convinced that the opportunity to enhance the education of all Randolph students is substantial.
With a common commitment to student-centered learning and research-based instruction for all students, Greengate and Randolph as a combined entity will expand educational opportunities for current and future generations of children in our region. We are thrilled to join our efforts, and we are excited for the future of an enhanced and expanded Randolph School.
In the weeks and months to come, we look forward to sharing more information about the Greengate division, as well as resources for helping children with dyslexia. The School will host an Open house ribbon-cutting in August 2018, to which the public will be invited. If you are interested in admissions to Randolph or the Greengate division of Randolph, please contact our admissions office. The School is holding a K-8 Open House on April 12.
A media release about the merger can be found here. All media inquiries should be directed to Randolph's Communications Office.
